Abstract
The special features of the Doppler Effect in the inhomogeneous media are examined from the point of view of the influence of wind speed to the measurement of the velocity of sound in the atmosphere. This influence is negligibly small with the specific regime of sounding. During the modification of the regime of sounding the simultaneous definition of both the vertical profile of the velocity of sound and the vertical profile of wind speed proves to be possible. In this case small errors of measurement may be ensured: velocity of sound - 1 cm/s; speed of wind - 10 cm/s.
Keywords: acoustical sounding of the atmosphere, Doppler effect, inhomogeneous media, temperature and the humidity of air, velocity of sound, vertical profile of speed, wind speed
